Jay and Pyro
Jay King joined Chesapeake Search Dogs in 2007 and is currently the Director of Operations and the team’s Law Enforcement Liaison. Jay is also an Operational K-9 Handler with is partner, Pyro. He is a Lead Evaluator for the National Association of Search and Rescue (NASAR) SARTech II / III, and K9 SARTech II / III evaluations. His certifications include NASAR SARTECH II, NASAR K9 Air Scent II, NASAR K9 HRD Land Other, IPWDA Land, and IPWDA Crime Scene. Jay is President of Control Systems Design, an industrial systems integrator and resides in Baltimore County.
Sammy is a Chocolate Labrador Retriever who joined Chesapeake Search Dogs in 2007 at the age of 3 months. In 2009, Sammy certified as an Air Scent K-9 with the team and also held her CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Certification and her NASAR Canine SARTECH II Area Search certification. She was a veteran of approximately 82 deployments and had a find to her credit. Sammy crossed the rainbow bridge on November 22, 2019
Pyro is a Red Fox Labrador Retriever who joined Chesapeake Search Dogs in 2016. Pyro holds her CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Certification, and is certified with NASAR K9 HRD Land Other, IPWDA Land, and IPWDA Crime Scene.
